May 2006 Café III [(black) Yeguada La Nava] x Generosa XLV [(black) Felipe Arenas Rosa]
Black Mare; Inscribed and Revised in the Spanish Stud Book
University of California at Davis color tested as a heterozygous black (Ee/aa), with the potential to produce blacks, bays, and chestnuts.
This elegant young black mare is out of Hacienda Santa Lucia’s stunning black stallion Café III. Café III was Young Stallion Champion in Spain, and was imported to Mexico by Federico Jimenez Sainz in 2005. Café carries Bocado and Yeguada Militar in his pedigree. Azul’s dam was also brought from Spain, a black mare whose pedigree is almost pure Bocado.
Although Azul is 15.2 hands now, she is still having growth spurts indicating more height to come. Azul’s confirmation is very correct and balanced with an exceedingly beautiful croup and powerful hindquarters. She has begun her training in dressage and is showing she’s a smart young mare who loves challenges.
May 2003 Feriante V (gray) x Faraona XVI (gray)
Gray Mare; Inscribed and Revised in the Spanish Stud Book
Imported from Spain’s Nobleza del Guadiana, Jijona carries the Conesa brand. Her bloodlines are Bocado, Romero Benitez, and Yeguada Militar. Jijona is gray and stands 15.3 hands. A lovely mover with many strengths conformationally, including a classic Baroque outline, yet those who meet Jijona are most struck by her intelligence and extending, outgoing personality. Her temperament is cooperative and engaging, ’tho she definitely has a mind of her own. She is proving to be a patient, gentle mother.
January 1996 Indiano XVIII (gray) x Revoltosa X 1984 (gray)
Gray Mare; Inscribed and Revised in the Spanish Stud Book
From a Yeguada Lovera & Yeguada Militar dam, Oliva’s sire is the famous Indiano XVIII, ‘The Lion of Spain’ who was Champion in Spain, and Champion again in Mexico. Indiano is from Nobleza del Guadiana (Conesa) & Romero Benitez bloodlines.
Oliva has an exquisite head and neck, good bone, and an overall look quite reminiscent of her sire. She was originally a foundation mare for Camass Andaluz and we were delighted to be able to acquire her. Oliva stands 16.2 hands. A consummate mother, she has produced bay and gray foals. Oliva is a wise and discerning mare, and regal in her bearing and demeanor.
